Preparing Your Items for Consignment

• Setting the right price is key to a successful sale. It’s important to price competitively to ensure your items sell. If you're new to consigning, we suggest starting with your larger items.
• These tend to take up more space at home and can be your highest earners.
• For clothing, a good rule of thumb is to start at about one-third of the original price. Adjust upward for higher-end brands, but remember not to overprice items due to sentimental value—shoppers won’t pay for the memories attached.
• For bigger items like outdoor playground sets or baby equipment, consider pricing around half of the original price. To increase buyer confidence, print a picture from the manufacturer’s website showing the retail price and attach it to the item for easy comparison.
• Grouping outfits or like items can boost sales. Limit the grouping to no more than five items on one hanger, and make sure all items in the group are the same size.
• We strongly encourage consignors to allow their items to be discounted. If priced fairly, most items will sell at full price, but adding a few extra dollars initially can help cover the discount during the sale. Remember, the goal is to clear out items and make money, not bring them back home. Avoid overpricing, as it can lead to missed sales. By offering discounts, you give your items the best chance to sell, saving you the hassle of taking them back.
• Every item you consign must have your consignor number written on masking tape and securely placed on the item. With the high volume of shoppers, it's possible that tags can get lost or detached. Adding your consignor number on masking tape ensures we can still identify and return your items. It also allows us to look up your item in the system and sell it, even if the original tag is missing. This extra step helps prevent lost items and maximizes your chances of making a sale.

• Price most items at 25–35% of their original retail price. 
• Brand, condition, style, and demand all play a role in determining value. 
• New with tags, like-new, or highly sought-after brands may be priced a little higher. 
• Be realistic—shoppers are looking for bargains, and sentimental value doesn't increase an item's selling price. 

• Everyday brands typically sell best between 25–35% of retail. 
• Designer, boutique, and premium brands can often be priced a little higher if they're in excellent condition. 
• Freshly washed, wrinkle-free, and neatly presented clothing sells faster. 
• Classic styles and current trends generally perform better than outdated fashions.

• Price based on the brand, condition, and original retail value. 
• Like-new shoes and handbags from premium brands can command higher prices. 
• Be sure all shoes are clean and accessories are complete.

• Test all electronics before drop-off. 
• Include chargers, remotes, manuals, or accessories whenever possible. 
• Working, complete items sell much better than incomplete sets.

• Use 65-110 lb. cardstock for your tags. Lighter-colored cardstock is required.  Darker shades may interfere with the barcode scanner’s ability to read the tag.
• While wire hangers are preferred, they are not required.
• Ensure tags are securely attached with safety pins that are one inch or larger. Pin the tag horizontally through the center of the cardstock.
• Do not mark through or alter the information on your consignor card. The barcode holds all the necessary details, and the register scanners will not adjust or process handwritten changes. If you need to adjust the price or donation, print a new tag.
• For all items, please place a small piece of masking tape with your consignor number inside—especially on shirts, shoes, and other loose items. This helps us track your items in case the tag gets lost, ensuring you receive proper credit for your sales.

The better your clothes look, the better they sell! Make sure all clothing is freshly laundered, ironed, and free of stains, holes, or damage. Quality presentation is key to attracting buyers.

• Hangers: Hang clothing with the hook facing left (like a question mark). You can use wire or plastic hangers, but wire hangers are preferred as they save space and display items more neatly.
• Hanging Instructions: Pants, skirts, shorts, and capris should be secured with safety pins at the top of the hanger (do not fold them over the hanger). For accessories, bundle items together using rubber bands or zip ties.
• Sorting: Prior to drop-off, organize clothing by gender and size for efficient inspection and placement.
• Pajamas:  Pajamas of all sizes sell more effectively when hung on hangers. Please refrain from bagging any pajamas.

All shoes must be in excellent condition and securely paired together. We recommend using zip ties to attach shoes, as they work great for keeping pairs together. If you choose, you can also tie shoes with their laces.

• Tagging: Attach the price tag securely with a large safety pin, ribbon, or zip tie through the shoelace eyes to ensure it stays in place.
• Condition: Shoes must be free from defects.
• Identification: You can tape your consignor number either on the bottom or inside of the shoes to help with identification, ensuring they are properly tracked.

All items to be bagged must be placed in clear Ziploc-type bags, with the price tag securely attached to the outside of the bag using a safety pin or tape. Ensure each item is listed on your consignor card, and include your consignor number on each item inside the bag. This will help us identify items that belong together in case the bag is opened. Please group these items by category when you drop them off.
